Watches and Wonders show in Geneva unveiling a new watch line

Rolex unveils the Oyster Perpetual Land-Dweller at Watches and Wonders 2025, showcasing its unique honeycomb-patterned dial and groundbreaking movement.

Geneva – Rolex made waves at the annual Watches and Wonders show in Geneva this week, unveiling its first entirely new watch line in over a decade—the Oyster Perpetual Land-Dweller.

Marking the brand’s first major model launch since the Sky-Dweller debuted in 2012, the Land-Dweller is a bold addition to Rolex’s iconic lineup. The timepiece, which took seven years to develop, introduces a groundbreaking movement, the calibre 7135, and a pioneering “Dynapulse” escapement. The innovation-packed release resulted in 32 patent applications, 18 of which are unique to the Land-Dweller itself.

Paul Altieri, founder and CEO of pre-owned watch marketplace Bob’s Watches, called the debut “extremely rare and exciting,” adding, “The design itself feels like a thoughtful blend of the Explorer and Sea-Dweller—rugged, refined, and built for everyday adventure. It’s a fresh take on Rolex’s tool watch legacy.”

The Land-Dweller’s high-frequency calibre 7135 is a first for Rolex, featuring a brass balance wheel and a balance staff crafted from a proprietary high-tech ceramic. It incorporates optimized Paraflex shock absorbers, enhancing movement stability in any position.

With its oscillator beating at 36,000 vibrations per hour (5 Hz), the movement delivers precise timekeeping down to a tenth of a second, and offers a robust 66-hour power reserve. Visually, the mechanics are on full display through a transparent caseback, revealing a yellow gold oscillating weight and distinctive Rolex “Côtes de Genève” bridge finishing.

Design-wise, the Land-Dweller features a honeycomb-patterned dial framed by an angled flange. Select models include a Chromalight display with luminescent numerals, markers, and hands for optimal readability in low-light conditions.

The watch is presented on a flat jubilee bracelet that seamlessly integrates with the case, and is available in both 36 mm and 40 mm sizes. Buyers can choose from three versions: a white Rolesor model (a mix of stainless steel and gold), an 18-karat Everose gold edition with a white dial, and a striking platinum variant featuring an ice-blue dial.

In a statement, Rolex described the Land-Dweller as “the culmination of the brand’s expertise today, fruit of more than a century of experience in watchmaking,” adding that it is “designed for those well-grounded men and women who build their own destinies, seeing opportunity in every moment.”

With its blend of technical innovation and timeless aesthetic, the Land-Dweller signals a bold new chapter for the legendary Swiss brand.
