DeepMind’s new AI model analyzes dolphin vocalizations in a bid to unlock the secrets of marine mammal communication and the roots of language.

In a groundbreaking leap for marine biology and artificial intelligence, Google has unveiled a new AI model specifically designed to help scientists decode the vocalizations of dolphins—an ambitious step toward understanding non-human communication at a deeper level.

The project, spearheaded by Google’s DeepMind division, aims to use advanced machine learning techniques to analyze and interpret the complex array of clicks, whistles, and pulsed calls that dolphins use to communicate.
