A Celebration of Artisanship and Creativity

Fashion elegance at Milan Design Week 2025, showcasing luxury and craftsmanship.

Milan Design Week 2025 has come to a close, leaving behind a trail of creativity, innovation, and a deep appreciation for craftsmanship. The week-long event saw some of the world’s top luxury fashion houses take center stage, pushing the boundaries of artisanship and design.

Loewe’s Teapot Extravaganza

Spanish fashion house Loewe has long been a pioneer in showcasing artisanal heritage and creative experimentation. This year, the brand took it up a notch with its ninth edition of the “LOEWE TEAPOTS” exhibition. Curated by creative director Jonathan Anderson, the event featured a collection of 25 teapots specially developed by artists, designers, and architects. The teapots, ranging from whimsical oversized lids to ethereal glow-emitting perforated porcelain, showcased the extraordinary potential of underrepresented artisanal traditions.

Hermès’ Immersive Exhibition

Hermès unveiled a poetic and immersive exhibition in the La Pelota Jai Alai space, masterfully curated by Charlotte Macaux Perelman. The installation explored the notion of objects as latent dreams, gradually unveiled through light, transparency, and reflection. Visitors were treated to a play of shadows and light, glimpsing delicate contours of vases, carafes, plates, and throws suspended in a kaleidoscope of colors and textures.

Louis Vuitton’s Objets Nomades

Louis Vuitton reaffirmed its position at the crossroads of fine craftsmanship and contemporary design with its Objets Nomades collection. Launched in 2012, the collection presents limited-edition design pieces that merge the maison’s savoir-faire with the creativity of leading designers. The exhibition, set in the neoclassical Palazzo Serbelloni, showcased a cluster of worlds that collided and harmonized, drawn up by a number of talented minds.

Gucci’s Bamboo Encounters

Gucci unveiled its most ambitious design project to date with Bamboo Encounters, an immersive installation held at the historic Chiostri di San Simpliciano. Curated by Ippolito Pestellini Laparelli, the showcase celebrated the enduring legacy of bamboo in Gucci’s identity, tracing back to the ’40s when Guccio Gucci first introduced bamboo handles to the brand’s handbags. The event featured seven designers and studios known for their exploratory practices, each bringing something from their personal story and individual approach to design.

Prada Frames: A Multidisciplinary Symposium

Prada presented the fourth edition of its multidisciplinary symposium, Prada Frames, curated by the design research studio Formafantasma. Titled “In Transit,” the event explored how visible and invisible infrastructures shape our daily lives and societal structures. The symposium brought together experts from diverse fields, including astrophysics, architecture, and activism, fostering cross-disciplinary dialogues on pressing issues like space travel, artificial intelligence, and climate justice.

As Milan Design Week 2025 comes to a close, one thing is clear: luxury fashion houses are not just about style and glamour, but also about innovation, craftsmanship, and pushing the boundaries of what is possible.
