Advancements in Silicon Battery Technology Could Pave the Way for a New Era in Mobile Devices

Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 Air may be the most significant upgrade to the company’s flagship device in years, thanks to the introduction of advanced silicon battery technology.
According to sources, the new battery design could pack 15% more energy into the same space as current graphite-based batteries, making it possible for the iPhone 17 Air to be as thin as 5.5mm while still offering longer battery life.

TDK is already working on fourth-generation silicon batteries for future products, and if the rollout in the iPhone 17 Air is successful, Apple might adopt this technology in other devices.
