A Star in the Making: Andreeva’s Unconventional Style and Unbeatable Game

Mirra Andreeva showcases her unique style on the court with a chic outfit and tennis gear, making a statement at the French Open.

Mirra Andreeva is making waves at the French Open, and it’s not just her tennis skills that are catching attention. The 6th seed has been spotted raiding the closets of her fellow players, incorporating their accessories into her own outfits and making a bold fashion statement in the process.

Andreeva’s latest look, a long bordeaux-red pleated skirt, has been a topic of discussion among tennis fashion fans. The skirt, which was worn by Zheng Qinwen during a previous match, has been deemed “too shy” by the Chinese player herself. However, Andreeva has taken to the skirt with ease, pairing it with gold earrings shaped like tennis racquets from Paula Badosa’s new “Aces” jewelry collection.

But Andreeva’s fashion exploits don’t stop there. After her win over Daria Kasatkina on Monday, she gained a new accessory: Kasatkina’s sweaty wristband. Andreeva, who was initially unsure about wearing the bold maxi silhouette, has now fully embraced the fashion spotlight. “At first I was a bit shy about doing the walkout in it, but I just forced myself to wear it. And ever since that first match, it just got easier and easier and now I just love it,” she said in a post-match press conference.

Andreeva’s confidence on the court is mirrored in her fashion choices. She has been spotted wearing a piece from Badosa’s new jewelry collection, which launched last month. The earrings, shaped like tennis racquets, feature a sparkling diamond “ball” on the strings and a removable diamond chain. “Aryna (Sabalenka) is going to wear the earrings, and Mirra is wearing them on the matches too!” Badosa told host Prakash Amritraj. “She’s looking amazing. Stunning!”

Andreeva’s fashion sense is not the only thing that’s making headlines. Her on-court performance has been impressive, with the 6th seed powering her way into the Roland Garros quarterfinals for the second year in a row, this time without dropping a set. Up next for Andreeva will be a face-off with unseeded Frenchwoman Lois Boisson, who stunned No. 3 seed Jessica Pegula.

But Andreeva’s not the only tennis star making waves at the French Open. Jannik Sinner, the world No. 1, has been leaning into the jokes about his green and blue outfit, which bears an uncanny resemblance to Luigi from the Mario Bros. franchise. Sinner’s coach, Darren Cahill, shared a “Jannik & Luigi” meme on his Instagram Story, and Sinner has since joined in on the fun, posting photos of himself in the outfit with the caption, “Luigi back on court.”

The crowd at Roland Garros has also gotten in on the joke, chanting “Vai Luigi!” alongside the usual “Forza Jannik!” Sinner’s dominant run to the quarterfinals has been impressive, and his confidence on the court is matched by his willingness to poke fun at himself. “It’s something different, and it’s also nice sometimes to change things up—if not, it gets too boring,” Sinner said with a grin. “It’s good to have something on, at least!”
