Apple’s next major software update for the Mac, macOS Tahoe, is set to bring a range of exciting new features and apps to the platform. Among the most notable additions are the Journal, Phone, and Games apps, which will be available simultaneously in macOS Tahoe, iOS 26, and iPadOS 26.

The Journal app, which first arrived on iPhone with iOS 17.2 in late 2023, will now be available on the Mac and iPad. This app allows users to write and store journal entries, with features such as a two-panel layout on the Mac that’s better suited for larger screens. Users will also be able to create multiple separate journals, view entries on a map based on where they were written, and more. The Journal app’s existing iPhone feature set will also be supported, providing users with a consistent experience across all of their Apple devices.

The Phone app, which is also making its debut on the Mac, will offer a range of familiar features, including Recents, Favorites, and Voicemails, as well as the latest updates like Call Screening and Hold Assist. This feature will allow users to automatically answer calls from unknown numbers and ask the caller for information before deciding whether to answer. With the Phone app on the Mac, users will be able to manage their phone calls and contacts in a more integrated and intuitive way, with seamless synchronization between their Mac and iPhone.

The Games app will serve as a one-stop hub for all gaming needs on the Mac, allowing users to discover new games, launch installed titles, and keep up with friends via leaderboards and challenges. With the Games app, users will be able to access their games library across all of their Apple devices, and enjoy a more streamlined and enjoyable gaming experience.

macOS Tahoe will also introduce a new Liquid Glass design, which will bring a sleek and modern look to the Mac’s interface. This new design will be accompanied by major upgrades to Spotlight, Apple’s search engine, which will provide users with faster and more accurate search results.

In addition to these new features and apps, macOS Tahoe will also include a range of other improvements and enhancements, such as:

  • Improved performance: macOS Tahoe will include a range of performance enhancements, including faster boot times and improved overall system responsiveness.
  • Enhanced security: macOS Tahoe will include a range of security enhancements, including improved encryption and password protection.
  • Better multitasking: macOS Tahoe will include a range of multitasking enhancements, including improved window management and a new “Spaces” feature that allows users to easily switch between multiple apps and windows.
  • Enhanced accessibility: macOS Tahoe will include a range of accessibility enhancements, including improved voice control and a new “Accessibility” menu that provides users with easy access to a range of accessibility features.

The release of macOS Tahoe is expected to be a significant milestone in Apple’s ongoing efforts to expand its ecosystem and provide users with a more integrated and enjoyable experience across all of its platforms. With the Journal, Phone, and Games apps, Apple is taking a major step forward in its efforts to create a seamless and intuitive experience for users, and to provide them with a range of exciting new features and apps to enjoy.
