Cornwall’s Harry Hall is brimming with confidence and eager to make a splash as he prepares to make his debut at the prestigious Open Championship.

The 27-year-old PGA Tour player secured his spot at Royal Portrush after a standout performance in the qualifying tournament at Burnham and Berrow earlier this week.

Hall finished second in the qualifying event, just a single shot off the lead, to clinch one of the five coveted places at the major championship.

This will mark his third appearance in a major tournament, having previously finished 19th at the 2023 USPGA Championship and also played at the 2022 US Open.

“I feel really good right now,” Hall told BBC Radio Cornwall. “I’m hitting the ball where I want to and I’m doing all the right things. So hopefully I can prove that next week at the Scottish Open and then hopefully in The Open.”

The West Cornwall Golf Club player has enjoyed a breakout year on the PGA Tour, securing his maiden tour victory at the Isco Championship and recording four additional top 10 finishes.

He has made the cut in 16 of his 19 events and currently sits 46th in the PGA Tour rankings, positioning him well for a potential breakthrough at Royal Portrush.

Hall’s qualifying performance was highlighted by a blistering start, where he fired two rounds of 67. Despite a mid-round dip in form, the Cornish golfer demonstrated his resilience by finishing strongly on the final holes to secure his place at The Open.

Notably, the overwhelming support he received from his local community, with an estimated 400 spectators following his play at Burnham and Berrow, provided a significant boost.

The 149th Open Championship is set to take place from July 17-20 at the iconic Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland, and Hall is eager to make a lasting impression in his major debut.

With his current form, confidence, and the backing of his devoted fans, the young Cornish talent is poised to seize the opportunity and potentially deliver a breakout performance on the world stage.
