Former UFC Stars Darren Till and Luke Rockhold Headline in Highly Anticipated Main Event

Darren Till and Luke Rockhold face off in the cage during an intense match.

In a move that has sent shockwaves through the combat sports world, former UFC interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson is making his boxing debut against TikTok sensation Salt Papi in the highly anticipated Misfits Boxing 22 event. The fight, which will take place on August 30 at the AO Arena in Manchester, marks Ferguson’s first foray into the boxing ring since his departure from the UFC.

Ferguson, who left the UFC earlier this year after an eight-fight losing streak, will face off against Salt Papi, a viral sensation who rose to fame after knocking out veteran MMA fighter Josh Bruckner in January 2023. Despite facing setbacks in his early career, Salt Papi has bounced back with two impressive stoppages last year and is now set to face the toughest test of his career against the former UFC standout.

The Misfits Boxing 22 event will also feature a highly anticipated main event between Darren Till and former UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold. Till, who has been on a roll since leaving the octagon, has won three fights in a row, including two stoppages, and will look to continue his winning streak against the former UFC champion.

Rockhold, who had a difficult ending to his UFC tenure, has also made the switch to boxing and will be making his ring debut against Till. Despite his struggles in the octagon, Rockhold has been training in bare-knuckle boxing and will look to bring his experience to the boxing ring against the rising star.

The Misfits Boxing 22 event will be available through DAZN PPV and will be a major test for both Ferguson and Rockhold as they look to cement their spots as stars in the combat sports world.

In other boxing news, Jake Paul’s team has denied claims made by Don King that they offered a step-aside deal for Paul’s upcoming fight against Badou Jack. According to Most Valuable Promotions boss Nakisa Bidarian, there have been no discussions with Don King or Team Noel regarding a step-aside deal.

The WBC has announced that an agreement has been reached for the rematch between Cruiserweight champion Badou Jack and Noel Mikaelyan, with the purse offer scheduled for Tuesday being cancelled. The fight, which was originally set to go to purse bids, will now take place later this year.

The boxing world is abuzz with excitement as these high-profile fights approach, and fans are eagerly anticipating the outcomes of these highly anticipated bouts.
