A Fresh Start for the Ammies

Action-packed football match showcasing players in motion on the pitch.

Salford City has a new ownership group, with David Beckham and Gary Neville at the helm, marking a significant shift in the club’s history.

The duo, along with fellow investors, has acquired the remaining shares from the Class of ’92, a group of former Manchester United players who had been instrumental in the club’s rise through the non-league ranks.

The new consortium, which includes India-based Dream Sports Group and several other investors, has committed to investing significantly in the club, its team, and facilities.

This move comes after the club’s ownership began exploring new investment opportunities in 2024.

Beckham and Neville’s takeover is seen as a strategic move to ensure the club’s sustainability in the next four to five years. In a video posted on the club’s X account, Neville emphasized the importance of prioritizing football while also improving facilities, stadium, and training grounds.

He stated that the new ownership group aims to become sustainable, grow revenues, and make the club accessible to fans.

The Class of ’92, which included Nicky Butt, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, and Phil Neville, will remain involved with the club in various roles, including technical, football, commercial, recruitment, and the SCFC foundation. However, they will no longer hold a share in the club.

Salford City’s history with the Class of ’92 began in 2014, when they took over the club and led it to four promotions in five seasons, reaching the English Football League in 2019.

However, the club has since struggled to maintain momentum, finishing 20th in the 2023-24 season. The new ownership group hopes to bring success back to the club and its fans.

The takeover is seen as a positive step for Salford City, with the new investors bringing expertise and resources to the table.

As the club looks to the future, fans are hopeful that this new era will bring success on the pitch and improved facilities for the team and its supporters.
