A reliable leaker has suggested that Apple is working towards a revolutionary design change for its iPhones, potentially eliminating the need for notches, Dynamic Island, or camera punch-holes by 2027. According to the leaker, the company plans to embed its Face ID tech beneath the display in two stages.

The first stage, expected to debut in the iPhone 18 Pro, involves embedding the Face ID emitter and receiver beneath the display. An Apple patent published earlier this year revealed that the company had solved the problem of infrared light not traveling well through displays by removing subpixels from the display in a way that won’t be noticeable.

The second and more challenging step will be to embed the front-facing camera beneath the screen, a feat that is technically possible today but has resulted in poor image quality in the past. Digital Chat Station, a Weibo user, has previously hinted at internal tests of this technology, suggesting it may be related to the iPhone Fold. The leaker now claims that this technology is expected to debut in 2027.

This ambitious timeline has raised eyebrows, given the current state of the tech and Apple’s reputation for prioritizing quality over being the first to market. However, with the 2027 iPhone potentially marking the 20th anniversary of the iPhone, it’s possible that Apple will push the boundaries of innovation to make this a truly special model.

As for the price, analysts predict that the new iPhone with under-screen selfie cameras and Face ID tech could be a premium device, with prices potentially starting at around $1,499 for the base model with 128GB of storage. The mid-range model with 256GB of storage could cost around $1,649, while the top-of-the-line model with 512GB of storage could reach as high as $1,799.

The price increase is likely due to the advanced technology and manufacturing process required to embed the camera and Face ID beneath the screen. However, Apple enthusiasts and tech enthusiasts alike are eager to see how the company will integrate this new technology into its devices.

In terms of storage options, the new iPhone is expected to come in three different sizes: 6.1 inches, 6.7 inches, and 7.9 inches. The 6.1-inch model is likely to be the base model, while the 6.7-inch and 7.9-inch models will offer more advanced features and larger screens.

As for the color options, Apple is expected to introduce new colors to its lineup, including a new “Aurora Blue” and a darker “Midnight Black”. The classic “Space Gray” and “Gold” colors will also be available, along with a new “Rose Gold” option.

The new iPhone is expected to be released in the fall of 2027, with pre-orders starting in August. As we await further confirmation from Apple, one thing is certain: the future of iPhones is looking brighter than ever. With its focus on innovation and design, Apple is poised to once again revolutionize the smartphone market and set a new standard for mobile devices.
