Former Andy Murray Coach Jamie Delgado Joins Draper’s Team as He Prepares for the Upcoming Season

Jack Draper has made a major move in his career by appointing Jamie Delgado as his new head coach, signaling a new chapter as he prepares for the 2025 season. Delgado, who coached Andy Murray from 2016 to 2021, is renowned for guiding Murray to a world number one ranking and multiple Grand Slam successes, including a Wimbledon title and a French Open final. Delgado will take the lead in Draper’s coaching setup, while James Trotman, who has been with Draper for the past four years, will remain on tour for key matches and training sessions.
Draper, currently ranked world number eight, has had a breakout year in 2024, reaching the world’s top four and winning his first Masters 1000 event at Indian Wells. He also reached the US Open semi-finals and secured two ATP titles.
However, a bone bruise in his left arm limited his play to just one singles match since Wimbledon, forcing him to withdraw from the US Open after a first-round win. Draper has been training at the National Tennis Centre in London to regain full fitness and is expected to make a strong return at the UTS Grand Final in December.
Delgado’s decision to join Draper follows the end of his three-year stint with Grigor Dimitrov, though his most notable work remains with Murray. Delgado joined Murray’s team in 2016 after Amelie Mauresmo left, and together they achieved remarkable success, including Murray’s historic 24-match winning streak to end the year as world number one. Despite ongoing hip issues, Delgado stayed with Murray for five more years, showing his dedication to his players’ long-term development.
Draper has also brought on physio Shane Annun and fitness coach Matt Little earlier this year, emphasizing a holistic approach to his training and recovery.
In a recent interview, Draper explained his preference for a streamlined coaching structure, saying he wants to “keep things simple” and avoid the confusion of having multiple voices in his ear. “I’m an over-thinker,” he admitted, “so I like to keep it to one voice.”
With Delgado’s experience and Draper’s rising potential, the partnership is expected to be a key factor in Draper’s quest for Grand Slam success and continued dominance on the ATP Tour in 2025.
